What Is Mantrailing
O&J Wikner Photography
Mantrailing is a specialised technique in the field of search and rescue training that utilizes the extraordinary olfactory abilities of dogs to track and locate missing individuals. It is an advanced form of scent detection, where highly trained dogs follow the specific scent of a particular person by sniffing out the unique odour molecules that each individual leaves behind. Mantrailing requires the dog to work closely with their human handler, picking up on subtle scent cues, and following the trail left by the individual from the point they were last seen. This method is commonly employed in locating lost hikers, missing persons, and even in forensic investigations. Mantrailing is not only an intricate and methodical process; it is an incredible testament to the incredible capabilities and partnership between humans and their K9 counterparts.
It is important to remember that Manhunt K9 specialises in pet and sport dog Mantrailing. We do not teach or are involved in operational search and rescue training or real life searches.
Manhunt K9 is based on the Sunshine Coast QLD, Australia. If you would like to organise a workshop or session outside of the Sunshine Coast please contact us.
